You can make your own breadcrumbs with about 4 slices of day-old bread cut into cubes,
sprinkled with the seasonings of your choice, and sautéed in a little butter and minced onion
for fl avor.

1 very large fl ank steak
8 ounces packaged seasoned stuffi ngstyle
bread cubes
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
½ cup broth or water

heat and brown the steak on all sides.
Spray the slow cooker with nonstick
cooking spray. Transfer the meat to the
slow cooker and add the broth. Cover
with the lid and cook on low for 6 to
9 hours, or on high for 3½ to 5 hours.
During cooking, add small amounts of
additional broth if needed. To serve,
remove the toothpicks and cut into
½-inch thick serving slices, exposing the
