Pastis - A Drink Enjoyed in Southern France

Pastis - A Drink Enjoyed in Southern France

Pastis 51 is a well kept secret to the southerners of France, and most will only taste the drink as tourists who make it onto their famous shores. The drink itself has a taste like Anise which means it is in the same class as Sambuca and Onise. The drink is preferably sipped into long summer evenings and is enjoyed to five parts water. The mixture to water gives the yellowish color a grey look which adds to the beauty of this great drink. It is enjoyed by locals and tourists alike.

Unfortunately the drink seems to be quite difficult to find off the shores of France, but if you look hard enough you will find a dealer that imports the pastis drink. The drink, as legendary as the name will always be remembered in songs and poems that have been written for and about the drink. Its memorabilia can be found on websites like eBay.

Most people that tell you about the drink look back to their first sip with nostalgia, and almost everyone can remember that exact moment or holiday.

If you have tried pastis please let us know about your experience as we are collecting memories of first encounters. Details can be found on our website.
